The business
Ute Patel-Mißfeldt paints on silk, works in pastel and watercolour, and designs porcelain, interiors and fashion, from Grünau Castle in Neuburg an der Donau. Her career runs to 42 books as editor, solo exhibitions in 22 cities on four continents, and a group show alongside Dalí and Picasso.
The site is her archive, her gallery and her shop at once: five areas of work, a catalogue of numbered pieces with their sizes and prices, and a shop for originals, prints, books and porcelain. It is in German and English, and it sets no cookies and makes no requests to anyone else.

Every section its own colour
The homepage is a walk through numbered rooms, each in a colour taken from her work: magenta for the opening, green for her story, rose for the areas of work, a pale blue for the paintings. It opens with her silhouette and signature drawing themselves, so the first thing on screen is her own hand.

The selected works hang side by side at their real sizes relative to each other, so a 58 by 80 cm painting is visibly larger than a 30 by 48 cm one. Under each: its catalogue number, year, size and price, as a label on a gallery wall would give them.
Two languages, one menu
The whole site is in German and English, and the switch sits in the menu beside the pages. The menu is set large and numbered, so it reads as a table of contents to a body of work rather than a list of links.

No cookies and no requests to anyone else: the fonts, the pictures and the shop are all served from the site itself, and the footer says so, along with the accessibility standard it is built to. For an artist whose visitors are often older, and often in Germany, that is a kindness as much as a policy.
