An app for photographers and filmmakers to keep track of their gear, pack it for shoots and rent it out.
The business
GEARR keeps a photographer's or filmmaker's equipment in one place: every camera, lens and light, where it is kept, what it is worth, and when it was last cleaned. Gear goes into kits, kits are packed for shoots, and gear that would otherwise sit on a shelf can be listed for rent.
Its line is "Your gear. Organised. Earning." The app has to be quick to check on set, readable in the dark, and shareable across a studio when the gear belongs to a team.

Dark first, light for the office
The approach
Dark first, because shoots happen in the dark
The app opens dark, with amber as the only colour that asks for attention, because it is used on set and in low light, where a white screen dazzles the crew. Light mode is there for the office and the studio, and the setting says so in plain words.
Everything about a piece of gear, on one page
Serial, storage, cleaning, maintenance, loans and the gear it travels with sit on the item itself. Every empty section says what to do next rather than showing a blank, so a new item teaches the app as it is filled in.
Packing is a number, not a feeling
A kit shows how ready it is as a percentage, and packing and unpacking are the two largest controls on the screen. The question on the way out of the door is whether everything is in the bag, and the kit answers it before it is asked.
One account, personal and studio
The same person owns some gear and shares other gear with a team. Switching between the two is one sheet, always in reach, rather than a second login, and a studio is joined with an invite code.
